Birdwatching Tour At An Ancient Maya City Embark on a full-day expedition through the heart of Belize's Mountain Pine Ridge to one of the most iconic Maya cities—Caracol—while spotting ... morerare and magnificent birds along the way. This 6–8 hour guided experience offers an unforgettable blend of nature and history, tailored for birders, nature lovers, and archaeology enthusiasts alike.

Your birding adventure begins the moment you hit the trail. As you travel through winding roads, creeks, and towering forests, keep your eyes peeled for some of Belize’s most elusive bird species. The journey to Caracol passes through multiple habitats—from open pine forest to dense tropical rainforest—offering opportunities to spot species such as the Keel-Billed Motmot, Crested Guan, Ocellated Turkey, Great Curassow, and more.

Once at Caracol, the birding continues as your guide leads you through this once-mighty Maya city. Towering pyramids, sprawling plazas, and intricate stelae provide a dramatic backdrop for your wildlife observations. You’ll learn about the site’s history, including the famed Canna (Sky Palace)—the tallest man-made structure in Belize—and gain insight into the daily lives, astronomy, and warfare of the ancient Maya civilization.

Halfway through the tour, enjoy a freshly prepared local Belizean lunch, served in a scenic jungle setting.

On the return journey, your guide continues birdwatching as you make your way back through the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, with additional chances to spot species you may have missed on the way in.
