Dangriga is the largest town in Southern Belize and the spiritual capital of the country's Garifuna people. Despite sharing a similar ramshackle appearance and funky coastal vibe with ... moreBelize City, Dangriga doesn't have a big-city feel and is generally a safe place to explore. This is a proud, festive town, one that does its best to make the most of its vibrant Garifuna heritage, but apart from a handful of worthwhile cultural sights it's not a tourist hangout like Hopkins or Placencia – most travelers are either changing buses or getting a boat out to the central cays.

Perched at the southern tip of a long, narrow, sandy peninsula, the village has long enjoyed a reputation as 'the cay you can drive to' – a fully-paved 27-mile road heads off the Southern ... moreHwy via Maya Beach and Seine Bight to the tip of the peninsula. Placencia can be a lot of fun, but how you feel about it really depends on what you're looking for. If it's laid-back ambiance, varied accommodations, boat access to private islands and some of the best restaurants in Southern Belize, this beachfront hangout may be for you. During the full moons of May and June especially, divers and snorkelers are drawn here as whale sharks come to feed in the nearby waters.

The Cockscomb Mayan Adventure Tour The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary established in 1990 is world renowned for being the first jaguar reserve. This "one of a kind" nature park ... morewas established as a result of jaguar studies conducted in the area by Alan Rabinowitz (aka “The Indiana Jones of Wildlife Protection”). Besides being the home to Belize's largest cat, the sanctuary protects the headwaters of two major river systems and supports an abundance of hardwood vegetation and a diverse faunal assemblage. Over 128,000 acres of the lush jungle is ringed by the spectacular Cockscomb Mountains.

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is home to all five (5) of Belize's cats: Jaguar, Puma, Margay, Jaguarundi, and Ocelot. It is estimated that over 80 resident Jaguars are in the area. Belize's national animal, the endangered Baird's Tapir also inhabits the Basin and over 290 different species of birds have been recorded. This tour is ideal for nature lovers and intrepid travelers.
